A part-time job will provide valuable job experience during college
October 20, 2011
As a college student, part-time jobs are a fact of life, as they are one of the only ways to make money on the side while putting the majority of your time into schoolwork. As an added bonus, a part-time job could provide some invaluable experience that you can use in a future job interview as evidence of skills that can translate to your new position.
Even with college scholarships and grants reducing the cost of your tuition, making money on the side can allow you to put some money in your savings and have a little fun when it's warranted.
You never know what your next job will be, so even working as a waiter could show a potential employer that you have people skills. If you work at a day care center, you may gain a unique view of kids' marketing that could adapt to the business world. Simply put, there are many things to be learned in entry-level jobs, so trying to find a match that can boost your resume could give you a big leg up in a job interview.
