Veterinary technician field may begin providing more job opportunities

August 10, 2012

If you intend to take advantage of online scholarships and other financial resources to enroll in a postsecondary institution, you'll want to ensure that you'll be able to find a job after graduation. This is especially necessary for those who are partly relying on student loans, which need to be repaid in the future.

One field that you might want to consider once you find the college scholarships you need to enroll in a bachelor's degree program is the veterinary technician industry. Those who have a love of animals will enjoy a career in this field, which can put them closer to pets. Veterinary technicians can also have peace of mind, knowing their work is helping advance the well-being of animals.

Between 2010 and 2020, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that this industry is expected to grow by approximately 52 percent. Majoring in this specialization can improve your chances of finding a job after graduation.

The BLS reports that those who had a bachelor's degree in 2011 made nearly $1,053 weekly, compared to people who only had a high school diploma and earned $638.
