U.S. News and Report lists most tech-savvy schools

November 19, 2012

In this day and age when virtually every aspect of many young people's lives revolves around the internet, it might be a good idea to spend money for college on a school that prides itself on outstanding Wi-Fi services.

U.S. News and Report recently released its report on which are the best U.S. colleges for internet access and support, based on information gathered during its Best Colleges Rankings.  A follow-up report from the Huffington Post explains that information on almost 1,500 education institutes across the U.S. were used to complete this report.

Number one on the news source's list is Bowdoin College in Maine. In addition to functional Wi-Fi and tech support, the liberal arts school provides financial aid for college students' laptops, computer labs that practically never close, and Wi-Fi available anywhere on campus. The Huffington Post also states that Bowdoin upgraded all its wireless access points early in 2012.

It seems being a smaller school could make it easier to keep up with technology needs, if this list is any indicator. The Post notes that almost half of the schools in the top 25 list of most connected schools have an enrollment roster of less than 5,000, while most have less than 10,000.
