Blandin Foundation to accept scholarship applications until May 1
January 19, 2012
Without the financial means to pay for tuition, many high school students see their career goals cut short because they can't afford to attend a postsecondary institution. However, college grants and scholarships are now helping more young adults enroll in undergraduate programs and pursue a higher education.
Recently, the Blandin Foundation announced that it is now accepting applications for its need-based scholarship program, according to the Grand Rapids Herald-Review. Individuals have until May 1 to apply for these financial resources, which can help reduce the cost of tuition and making attending college a reality.
"Our scholarship program has a strong and important history with Itasca area communities," Kathy Annette, president of the Blandin Foundation, told the news source. "For 56 years we have worked with area students to help achieve their dreams of further education. Achievement of our young people was a great passion of Mr. Blandin's, as it is for the foundation still today."
As the job market becomes more competitive, a college education is becoming more valuable. Grants and scholarships are helping individuals obtain the degrees they need to find jobs.
