Distinguished Young Women scholarship finds exceptional high school seniors
July 24, 2012
Establishing yourself in high school can be difficult for both young men and women. There are the social stresses to compete with as you try to excel academically and find your own voice in the crowd. The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship seeks out those individuals and gives them an opportunity to really shine.
Many state finals for the scholarship wrapped in early July, and as the current crop of Distinguished Young Women will be heading to college, new state winners will be attending the National competition next June in Mobile, Alabama.
But there's plenty to be achieved on the non-national level. The competition at Washington State University for that state's winner consists of 19 young women who will be competing on August 4th for both the title and the a portion of the $10,000 in scholarships. Judges will evaluate the young women in a variety of fields, from self-expression to fitness and talent.
Distinguished Young Women is one of the many great scholarship opportunities out there for high school girls looking for a transformative opportunity that will prepare them for college and beyond. Entering its 56th with the 2012-13 group, the scholarship has proven it has staying power and plenty of heart.
