In a recent report from USA News, a handful of scholarships for college offered specifically for students with learning disabilities (LDs) such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are outlined. The former two conditions cause a person to have difficulties with reading and writing. ADD results in reduced abilities to pay attention, as well as overactivity and impulsiveness. The news source noted that schoolwork and standardized testing can often prove especially difficult for students with these conditions.…

Can students earn scholarships by playing video games?

TwitchTV - the world's largest streaming video game service joined forces with Dell and SteelSeries to provide $10,000 in money for college to five gamers whose academic achievements are matched only by their gaming expertise. The company isn't accepting any more applications for its 2012 scholarship program, but encourages gamers with hopes for higher education to apply next year.
"We expect parents to be very surprised that their sons and daughters are applying for scholarship money because of their gaming abilities," TwitchTV vice president Matthew DiPietro told Mashable.…

Normally, when campus security officers show up in an athletic team's locker room, they don't bring good news. That's what UMass football players Daniel Maynes and Rob O'Connor assumed when, midway through a team meeting, a pair of uniformed school cops arrived and handed them ominous-looking envelopes.

An American-based agriculture business is providing financial aid for college to 26 qualified Cameroonians, as part of a larger initiative to bring about a stable palm oil production project in the central African nation. Palm oil, not unlike coconut oil, is frequently used for cooking, according to the American Palm Oil Council.
