Keeping your senior grades high can improve your chances of receiving a college scholarship

October 21, 2011

Colleges and universities have been putting increasing stock in the success of a prospective student during his senior year, so if you've been letting your grades slip, you could lose your acceptance altogether. However, one area where senior grades can matter even more is in your chances for college scholarships.

While colleges have only recently been paying attention to a student's senior grades, these have been very important to scholarship committees for quite some time. It may be tempting to slack off once you've been accepted, but shouldering an additional financial burden because you didn't get that extra scholarship will leave you kicking yourself soon after.

Keep those grades up. It's not worth losing your chance at higher education or limiting your long-term debt to be a bit more carefree during your senior year. Maintaining these grades will make a positive impression on a scholarship committee and it will show your college that it made the right choice to select you. It may be a bit of extra work for now, but it will pay dividends in the years to come.
