According to the Rapid City Journal, a South Dakota number crunching wiz has received a significant amount of money for college due to her passion for accounting.
The South Dakota Certified Public Accountants Society (CPA) awarded Black Hills State University senior Elise Foltz $6,800 in financial aid for school. In part, this was due to the fact that she's almost done with the 150 hours of of accounting necessary to qualify for the CPA exam, according to the news source.
“I walked into my house yelling ‘I got it. I got it. I got it,’” Foltz told the Rapid City Journal. "I love working with numbers. I’ll do advanced accounting homework even when I don’t have homework. Accounting is one huge problem which makes it entertaining and fun."
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that, if Foltz continues her current career goals, she could make something in the ballpark of $62,000 a year. As of 2010, there were well over a million jobs in the field of accounting and auditing in the United States.
