Staying on track and avoiding stress through the college process
November 17, 2011
Although attending college is known to be a relatively fun experience, it is a daunting task to earn a degree. Not only are college classes more demanding than high school courses, but there are a number of other things you need to worry about before attending as well, including tuition costs, textbooks and housing.
One way to relieve yourself of the financial burden of tuition and other fees is to apply for scholarships and college grants. Although you may not earn every one you submit an application for, having just a few scholarships to your name can help chip away at the cost of attending school. This will give you one less thing to worry about once you're there.
College can quickly become overwhelming, but CollegeBoard.com says there are a few ways you can stay ahead of the game. First, make sure you have an idea of your priorities. Jot down a list of your obligations and responsibilities if you have trouble keeping track of them and feel stressed.
Also, try to surround yourself with positive people who can motivate you. This may not only be friends, but professors and tutors who can help you along the way as well. College is an enjoyable experience, and it's a great time for learning life lessons.
