Microsoft and Boeing to donate to the Opportunity Scholarship program
December 21, 2011
It can be difficult to pay for tuition and fees to attend a postsecondary institution, and it can be even tougher if you're coming from a family with a lack of financial stability. Although it's practically assumed these days that high school seniors will be attending college, not everyone has the means to do so right after graduation.
Students who have dreams of attending college but don't have the money to do so may soon be receiving a little help from Boeing and Microsoft, according to King-5 News. Recently, the two companies announced that they will be offering scholarships to individuals who are interested in earning a degree. Both Boeing and Microsoft will be donating $50 million to the Opportunity Scholarship program.
"The economic future of this state depends on having a talented and well-educated workforce," Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith told the news source.
In addition to applying for scholarships, prospective students can look for college grants to help them curb the cost of tuition and earn a degree. These financial resources do not have to be repaid over time.
