Advancing past an associate degree to earn a bachelor’s degree
January 18, 2012
Going to school to earn an associate degree is a positive step you can take toward finding a career you love. However, it often takes a higher degree in order to advance in any job, which can be problematic for those who not already possess a bachelor's degree.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2010 that the average salary for those with an associate degree was $767. While this is more than what those with only a high school diploma made, individuals with a bachelor's degree took home an average of $1,038 per week.
This notable difference in income can especially be important to individuals who have a family to support at home. While an associate degree can help you land a job, a bachelor's degree can open up a wide variety of career opportunities to you in the future.
College grants and scholarships can help you pay for school and work your way toward a higher education. These financial resources are more viable than education loans because they don't have to be repaid in the future.
