Go Red for Women, an organization co-sponsored by the American Heart Association, is offering qualifying women aiming for careers in the medical field the chance to receive $2,500 in financial aid for college.
In order to possibly receive this money for college, applicants must be members of a racial minority, U.S. citizens, enrolled in an accredited educational institution and have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
“The recruitment of talented diverse young women into the healthcare field is a critical step in the delivery of quality, culturally sensitive patient-centered care," Jennifer Mieres, MD, senior vice president at the Office of Community and Public Health at the American Heart Association at the Go Red For Women spokesperson, told AsianWeekly. "The Go Red Multicultural Scholarship Fund will help ensure the continued success of a diverse group of young women in their health care education journey."
According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the healthcare industry is the most likely to place women employees in management positions.
